CINNUG

Our next monthly meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 22nd at Max Technical Training in Mason, OH at 6 pm.

Strategy for IT Pros: Why, What, and How

Do you know your organization's technology strategy?  ...You do have a strategy, right?

Technology organizations seldom face shortages of project plans, but comprehensive and clear strategies are rare.  (Note: a project plan is not a strategy!) Many seasoned technology professionals are unable to define strategy, much less articulate one for their organization.  The good news is that strategy is not a difficult concept, and is not the sole domain of the C-suite.

This talk is meant for brave change agents looking to establish clarity, focus and improved engagement for their teams through the creation and communication of strategy.  After attending this talk, you will be able to: clearly define strategy, understand why it's critical for your organization, and have concrete actionable steps to work toward a strategy for your technology team, whether you're in a leadership position or not.

About our Speaker:

Andy Douglas has been delivering quality software for 17 years in roles including full-stack programmer, architect and manager.  He eagerly pursues continuous improvement for himself and his teams and provides technology leadership using a positive attitude, a growth mindset and high charisma score.  He currently leads an Agile software development team at Myriad Neuroscience (formerly Assurex Health), and volunteers technology expertise in service to Cincinnati-area non-profit New Life Furniture Bank.  When he's not working, Andy plays the Scottish bagpipes with 2 bagpipe and drum bands, and teaches free bagpipe lessons weekly.

Pizza, drinks and conversation will follow our speaker!

As usual, after we wrap our pizza break we will be holding another CINARC (Cincinnati Software Architecture Group). This session will feature more discussion on topics chosen the night of the meeting. The focus of the meeting will be to discuss issues of software architecture relevant to the members of the community.
